Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Everyone have the right to be a self inflicted idiot.
And I have the right to just about pee my pants in laughter when said idiot is forced to deal with the backlash of their idiocy.
EXAMPLE: Being an ill informed, sarcastic jackhole when speaking of minors at PalmCon = Nickleback. Yeah. You heard me. Poke the bear (nerds) and get Nicklebacked.
Confused? Let me explain: A New Times “journalist” Allie Conti produced a piece that can only be described as the biggest steaming pile I’ve seen in a while. It was in regards to last Saturday’s PalmCon (see the link in the example). The piece bashed the Con and it’s participants, including children. She even included photos -some of children – with derogatory comments/captions to boot.. Seriously? Kids? An adult, ADULT decided to write some BS that as far as I can see is just as bad as some of the bullying that’s going on in our schools – and NEW TIMES backed her by allowing it to be published. Say what you will about adults, fine. But, stay the hell away from the kids.
I’ve gone through a good part of the comments on the post. I was so damn proud to see that most of the posters were enraged. People do have the right to say whatever they want, but kids? It’s not as if they were standing on the corner sniffing out drugs. They were in a Con, probably with their parents. I mean, I saw photos of a father and son dressed as super heros – does that offend you Miss Conti?
Disgusting. Even more disgusting was Conti’s responses to the internet’s anger. You can find the links to her responses within the original post.
The internet was pretty pissed about the whole thing this morning. So much so that someone hacked Conti’s site. It now points to a Best of Nickleback video on YouTube. I was amused.AS.HELL. Well done internet.
NOTE: I just went to the post again and it seems that New Times has edited the post. They have pulled the photos and some of the comments. GOOD FOR YOU. I cannot believe they allowed her to post photos of children with derogatory comments.
Also Note: My apologies for this post being all disorganized and rushed…I’m…….distracted. heh.
I loved Mike Broder’s response, you can read it HERE. Well said Mike, well said.
Well, as much as I should edit this post for errors I’m not going to. lol. I gotta run. I am sure I will be back later – I have a lot to say about this stupidity.
